Jeanne K. (Chew) Phipps '61After graduating from Mt. Carmel, I continued my education at KMBI, graduated in 1964 and entered nurses training in Phoenix, Arizona. It was in church there that I met my husband, Jerry. We were married in August 1965. I dropped out of nurses training and obtained my business degree from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix and later obtained my MBA from Arizona State University. We have two children and six grandchildren: Russ, our son, a computer buff in Boulder, Colorado working with me in our family business; and Penny, our daughter, a dentist in Sacramento, California. Our son has two daughters and our daughter has two sons. We have also “adopted” two children of single mom’s who either don’t have living grandparents or have disinterested grandparents as grandchildren. They bring us a great amount of joy. Jerry worked as a designer of computer equipment until he retired in December 2002. I still manage a small business named Alpine Media Duplication which I started in 1984. We duplicate and replicate CDs, DVDs, Video Tapes and Audio Tapes and transfer from one media to another. I have always been active in my local church although I have switched denominations from time to time. I started out as a Nazarene but then became a Methodist, Congregational and Evangelical Lutheran in that order. I have often attended the Presbyterian Church on frequent trips to California and have learned something from each and grown in my faith. I currently sing in the church choir and Jerry and I are involved in videotaping the services in our church and making them available, free of cost, to the homebound in our congregation. Our services are available to assist other congregations set up similar programs. Back |
