Most of us, having been profoundly influenced by the self-sacrificing nature of the holiness
movement, have a tendency to overlook the power of our own influence. We are taught to
be humble, self-effacing, not seeking glory for ourselves. There is merit to this -
Scripture tells us that God honors the humble.
In the course of life, however, often we forget that words mean things.
Our behavior and attitudes have a tremendous impact on others.
We learn down the road how a small gesture, a kind word, a brief exchange,
meant the world to somebody at an important moment in life.
Consider taking a moment of your time to reach out to a former classmate or friend
from days gone by. You never know how much it might mean to someone
just to get a short note: “Hi, just thinking of you and I remember how you
used to whistle while you worked.” ---- or whatever your memory is.
Reconnecting with friends is such a rewarding experience, and a blessing to both parties.
Try it this Christmas season!
