The first seven months of 2005 have flown by.  For me they have been filled with trips to Nairobi to welcome newcomers (among whom were my cousins, Jon and Marita Bishop)  and help them shop to stock their houses with groceries; trips to the game areas in Masaioften being the driver to get folks there; a trip to the coast for our Kenya Field Retreat and a couple of days of vacation: a vacation trip with the Jarretts to Samburu, 5 hours drive north of Nairobi, on which we were fortunate enough to spot two leopards; three other trips to Nairobi on business, scouting for supplies for the guesthouse and other visiting staff housing.  So, I've been on the road a lot.  I know you can see why I value your prayers for 'safety on the road'.

Already this year, thirty-two doctors have come for anywhere from 2 weeks to 8 months to help us.
One of the recent arrivals, Dr. Myers, is scheduled to be here for at least a year.

In addition to doctors,
14 medical students have come (most for 2 months).  I am responsible for their in-country accommodations, travel arrangements, and arranging a safari trip.

Construction news:  The surgery/educational unit will be completed this fall.  The opening is scheduled for November 19th.   The Guesthouse addition, much needed, is supposed to be finished by the end of the year. It will have a 2 bedroom apartment, a 3 bedroom apartment, and several single units.

Thank you for your prayers that make it possible for me to serve here at Tenwek Hospital.
