You may not even remember me--it's been a long time. I was just on the Mt. Carmel Former Students' web site. Our class isn't represented very well, is it? I had fun reading about Jonathan Baldwin--at least I can remember him.
I have been teaching high school English at Hobe Sound Christian Academy in Florida since 1988. I never thought I'd end up being an English teacher, but I love what I do. The teachers at Mt. Carmel were a huge influence on my life, and I give them the credit for planting a desire in my heart to teach. Mr. Higgins was especially influential. I can still remember his testimonies about how wonderful it was to find and do God's will, and now I can honestly testify to the same thing. And of course, Mrs. Cundiff and Miss Paulo deserve all the credit for anything I know about English! They probably never dreamed I'd end up following in their footsteps.
I have three sons, ages 24, 23, and 17. The youngest is a senior in high school this year, and I have the questionable pleasure of being his class sponsor. His class is the fourth group that I have sponsored all the way through four years of high school, and I've learned a whole new appreciation for our class sponsors, Mr. and Mrs. Higgins and Mr. Detwiler. It's not as easy as they made it look!
The Lord has been wonderful to me. He truly has done a better job running my life than I could ever have done on my own. I've passed the half century mark now (wow), but the best thing about getting older is that I have more of God's blessings to look back on. I would love to hear from old classmates. |
